Election of New Provincial Government During Second USA-Canada Province Chapter

The Claretian Missionaries USA-CANADA Province held its second provincial chapter from June 5-9, 2023 on the campus of the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois (northwest of the city of Chicago). The Chapter theme was: “Let us dream! Forging a Mission on the Margins”. Father General, Mathew Vattamattam, CMF served as President of the Chapter and welcomed Fr. Rosendo Urrabazo, CMF (as Vice-President), Fr. Paulson Veliyannoor, CMF (as Facilitator), Fr. Mark Clarke, CMF (as Secretary) and Fr. Juan Manuel Buzo Sanchez, CMF (invited guest and representing the Province of Mexico). In addition, a total of 36 Chapter Delegates were in attendance. In his opening comments Fr. Mathew addressed the challenges currently faced by the congregation and noted that the unity of the province is its greatest strength. He commended Fr. Rosendo for getting the community through the Covid pandemic and the challenges faced by the province in the last few years. He also thanked the province for its continuing contribution to the growth of the Congregation. During the Chapter, a new provincial government was elected for the next sexennium (2023-2029) as well, they are:

  • Reverend Eddie De León, CMF Province Vicar & Prefect of Personnel for Mission
  • Reverend Fco. Javier Reyes, CMF Prefect of Formation
  • Reverend Reegan Soosai, CMF Prefect of Apostolate
